January 3rd, 2012
The Superdome
New Orleans, Louisiana
While it won’t be the biggest game played that week in the Superdome, the Sugar Bowl, featuring the Michigan Wolverines taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies, the game is sure to be a highly entertaining contest. And meaningful, for fans making the trip from Ann Arbor and Williamburg. As you would expect, Sugar Bowl Tickets are going to be hard to come by in the weeks leading up to the game, which is why many fans will hit the secondary market to procure seats to game.
The All State Sugar Bowl is part of the Bowl Championship Series, and will be the second of the five games that make up the series. Set for January 3, the Tuesday night game will get underway at 8:30. The Sugar Bowl has been held every year dating all the way back to 1935, and is one of the premier bowls in all of College Football. Typically the winner of the SEC is awarded a spot in the Sugar Bowl, but since LSU is playing for the BCS National Championship Game – set for January 9 in New Orleans – the Wolverines and Hokies were given invites instead.

Michigan finished the regular season with a 10-2 record but did not make it to the Big 10 Championship Game. The Virgina Tech Hokies finished 11-2 in the ACC standings but got routed by Clemson in the title game. This could be an interest matchup between two teams that have something prove. New Orleans is one of the most entertaining cities in the country, and whenever there’s an event in town the atmosphere promises to be taken to a whole new level. For that reason, the Sugar Bowl is always one of the most well-attended Bowl Games, meaning you should probably get your Tickets sooner rather than later if you want to have a shot at attending the game.
