The New Orleans Saints did everything they could to earn a first-round bye in the NFC Playoffs, winning their final eight games to finish 13-3. Unfortunately for Saints fans, the San Francisco 49ers were just as good down the stretch, and ended the year with an identical 13-3 record. The Niners held the tiebreaker over New Orleans, and were thus awarded the #2 seed, and the accompanying first round bye. That forced the Saints into the #3 seed, and a Wild Card matchup with the Detroit Lions.

On the bright side, the game will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, giving New Orleans a decided home field advantage over the Lions. Set for Saturday, January 7, the Saints vs. Lions matchup is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Wild Card Weekend. The Saints faced the Lions once in 2011, beating Detroit 31-17 in Week 13 (that game was also played in the Superdome).

Here’s a look at the rest of the 2012 NFC Wild Card Schedule:

NFL Wild Card Matchups

-Saturday, January 7: New Orleans Saints vs.  Detroit Lions  @ Mercedes-Benz Superdome

-Sunday, January 8: NY Giants/Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons @ Met Life Stadium/Dallas Cowboys Stadium

The last time we saw the New Orleans Saints were in the postseason they were getting run-over by Marshawn Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks. No doubt looking to redeem themselves, the Saints will be helped immensely by the sold-out crowd at the Superdome. Considered one of the loudest venues in the NFL, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be at its ear-splitting best on Saturday, and fans looking to be in the building are rushing to purchase Saints vs. Lions Playoff Tickets.

Looking at the secondary ticket market, which is subject to price fluctuations based on demand, the cheapest Tickets for the New Orleans vs. Detroit Wild Card Game are in the $175-$200 range. Those are for 600 level seats, while anything in the lower bowl is going to cost substantially more. Considering the Saints are a top contender to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLVI, look for prices to rise as game day approaches, meaning you’d be best served to purchase New Orleans Saints vs. Detroit Lions NFC Wild Card Tickets sooner, rather than later.
